For Your Eyes Only.

Lifting a 22-pound baby is a workout in itself!I've always been extremely private about my weight, but it's time to get over it. I'm going to do the unthinkable and tell you how much I weigh. But then I'll have to kill you.

I have a theory, and my theory goes like this: All women lie about their weight. And if they don't, they're skinny you-know-whats, so who really cares what they weigh anyway? The only person besides me who has ever really known how much I weigh is my doctor, and I only have to face him once a year. But here's the deal. If I tell you how much I weigh, you are never allowed to use it against me or for the purposes of a backhanded compliment. These rules apply whether you are my friend, foe, or family - by marriage or otherwise.

Slow Down Grasshopper.

So, it turns out all this time, I've been doing it all wrong. And by all this time, I mean, my entire life.

Every time I've started a health kick, I've started out with gusto, (over)exuberance, and the heart of a lion. I thought that if I didn't hurt after a workout, I hadn't worked hard enough. I thought that if I wasn't constantly hungry, I was eating too much. As you can imagine, being sore and hungry is not something that many people can maintain for very long. Inevitably, I would not be able to keep up the health kick that I started with such good intentions, and I would quickly slip back into being sedentary and all those vegetables sitting in my crisper would die slow, wilty deaths.

I Left My Abs in El Segundo.

All week, I've been counting down to my first visit to the gym and nutritionist. While I'm looking forward to it, I'm also as nervous as a kid on the first day of school.

Friday: 24 hours and counting

As you can imagine, heading back to the gym has caused me some anxiety. Actually, running on a treadmill with my ginormous nursing boobs is what has kept me up at night. I started the search for my workout clothes a few days ago, it has been a while since I've seen them. Every part of me is bigger than I was pre-pregnancy, including my feet. I say a little prayer that this isn't one of those gyms where everyone is toned and beautiful and you wonder why they are even here and if they ever do anything besides work out.

Weight Loss Challenge 2007.

The challenge doesn't officially launch until tomorrow, but I thought that the few fickle feline readers still checking in on my irregular updates might be interested in this. I have decided it is time to lose the baby weight and I will be reporting on my progress on a weekly basis on Sympatico MSN. I know, brave, eh? Talk about incentive... millions of people surf that site every day. That will be a bit of motivation to stay on track. Wish me luck!

Where in the world did 2006 go?

I thought I should post a quick update since it's 2007 and all. We have been hella busy, what with going out to BC for Christmas, all of the social engagements of the holidays, and chasing an 8 month old around the house. Actually, Max isn't quite crawling yet, but soon...either that or he'll just up and walk. There is a lot going on right now in the Fickle Feline household. The biggest change is that I am taking care of Max's BGF Maya while her mom goes back to work for a few months. I say a few months because Maya's mom is having another baby in April. Goodness! So, Maya will be hanging out with us during the week for the next three months. Today is Day #2 and so far I still have all my hair. Wish me luck!
