I Left My Abs in El Segundo.

All week, I've been counting down to my first visit to the gym and nutritionist. While I'm looking forward to it, I'm also as nervous as a kid on the first day of school.

Friday: 24 hours and counting

As you can imagine, heading back to the gym has caused me some anxiety. Actually, running on a treadmill with my ginormous nursing boobs is what has kept me up at night. I started the search for my workout clothes a few days ago, it has been a while since I've seen them. Every part of me is bigger than I was pre-pregnancy, including my feet. I say a little prayer that this isn't one of those gyms where everyone is toned and beautiful and you wonder why they are even here and if they ever do anything besides work out.

    Hey Kat,

New mom here, also looking to drop some pounds.

How are you managing all of this with Max? Does your gym have a daycare?

Oh - and another mommy question! Since you're nursing, how do you time your trips to the gym? Do you try and go in between feeds? Perhaps since Max is a bit older, he doesn't nurse as often as when he was a newborn?

  4. Stuffinghead - SuperBowl should be fun...hummus, veggies, organic cheese and gluton free crackers. Good times.

Holly - congrats! Did you have a boy or girl? Details! The gym downtown does not have a daycare, so I leave Max with Scott or my in-laws. The gym by my house has a daycare, but I haven't used it yet.

In terms of nursing, it does get longer between feeds. Max can go as long as 4 hours in the afternoon without breastfeeding, so that is when I schedule my time away. I'm also going to start moving him to a bottle of formula a day to get him used to it before I wean him from the daytime feedings at a year. I may keep a morning and evening feeding in for a few months after I go back to work, we'll just have to wait and see.

  5. Hey Kat ... I feel you on the Abs. I just did my intro training session last night and I've never felt more useless. Curl ups? yeah, sure, I'll get to that eventually. Wow - when did I lose my abs cause I don't remember having a baby!

    Hi Kat,

I had a baby girl and am in the middle of baby bootcamp right now! My goodness, it's so challenging. We had some nursing issues (but who doesn't?), but things seem to be settling down now.

Thanks for responding - great to know that times between feedings get longer.

I love your blog, by the way! And you're going to kick some serious ass on your weight loss challenge - FO SHO!
