p90x: before and after photos.

I started P90X on December 26, 2010 and completed it March 30, 2011. These are my before and after photos. The reason I started P90X was that I was feeling terrible emotionally and disconnected from my body and I knew something had to change. Also, a friend of mine who had completed the program alluded to it being pretty hard and wasn't sure I could do it (thems there fightin' words!).  While the before and after pictures definitely show a difference in my physique, the thing I am focused on is the smile on my face in the after photo.
I'm not going to list all my before and after measurements, but they are decent. I dropped from a size 12/14 to a size 8. I "only" lost 7 pounds during the program. I say "only" because I am told that muscle weighs twice that of fat but takes up only 2/3 the space, which explains the big changes I have seen to my body with relatively little change on the scale.  My energy level is much higher and I am generally dealing with stress better and feeling more positive about the world.  Next up is the "Insanity" program - I am starting tomorrow! It's a 60 day program and I'll probably post the results here when I wrap that up in early June. Stay tuned!

That is an incredible change! Not just in how you look, which is tremendous, but in the obvious change in how you're feeling about yourself and things. I bow down to you and your motivation, stick-to-it-iveness, strength, courage, and just plain old sheer determination. You are a better woman than me!

Your face and skin are so radiant in the after pics, and you're firming up in all the right places! Way to go!!!! Your hair looks healthier too ... and as we all know, physical and mental health are linked, so I'm sure you feel a lot better too (even if I hadn't read the post, the pics say it all). Congrats!!!

WOW! Good for you. I lost about 7 KG recently and I am hoping it was mostly fat and water and not muscle. Paul.

Hey Kat - I was considering giving this a go because I've got a knee injury right now that prevents me from running or elliptical. How much space do you need for this? And is there a lot of jumping? (i.e. could I do it in my basement where the ceiling height is only 6 foot 2?) How much gear do you need? This would be a good idea for a blog post hint hint -ap

  12. ap - definitely worth a post! but the quick and dirty is you could definitely do this in your basement.

    you need:
-free weights (I started w/pairs of 5, 8, 10 lbs and added 15 and 20 lbs in the last month.
    -yoga mat
    -yoga block
    -chin up bar
-resistance bands (I only used these when I traveled

If you have a knee injury, I would sub out plyometrics and do the cardio workout instead. Tony is pretty good at giving direction on how to alter exercises if you have problem knees as well.
