dance like no one's watching.

It’s been a long week for me and Friday has felt completely out of reach.  Yet, here we are – it’s Friday – we made it! I decided to celebrate by throwing a dance party in the hallway outside my office.  I was fairly confident I would be dancing by myself, but this has never stopped me before.  As you will see in the video – I danced, I made my coworker Nancy dance with me, and I called out all the no-fun folks who didn’t join me. I was 100% committed to my art.  I got no moves, but I love to dance.

It should be noted that most of my dancing happens in my car (quite a sight I’m told).  I am also known to dance in the kitchen.  I dance to release stress, I dance to feel joy, I dance to make people laugh, I dance because when I like a song, I just can’t help myself.  My favourite show on television is So You Think You Can Dance (both the US and Canadian versions).  I especially like the hip hop numbers (and I secretly wish I could pull off those moves).  Hard to imagine a suburban woman in her mid 30’s getting buck, but hey, I can dream. I hope this video makes you laugh, or at least crack a smile.  And yes, I totally felt like Allie on Degrassi when she had to get up in front of the entire student body and dance by herself because her Big D Dance Crew ditched her.

  1. I totally would have been out there getting my boogie on. Unfortunately, I am banned from dancing in public until 2014. Damn Restraining Orders!

You are sooooo awesome! I often dance in my office as well...life is too short not to dance! If I was there, I would not only have joined you, but cranked the tunes even louder!
