my own personal popeye.

Max really likes fruits and vegetables.  He likes them so much, that he would choose and apple or tomato over a cookie.  Many children with Autism have really quirky eating habits where due to sensory issues, they will only eat one or two items - like oatmeal, or bagels, so we consider ourselves lucky.  Yesterday Max took his love for veggies to a whole new level and ate half of a jumbo container of fresh spinach.  Spinach.

All I can say is:
I yam what I yam and I yam what I yam that I yam
And I got a lotta muscle and I only gots one eye
And I'll never hurt nobodys and I'll never tell a lie
Top to me bottom and me bottom to me top
That's the way it is 'til the day that I drop, what am I?
I yam what I yam.

  1. That is so great. You are lucky he is such a healthy eater. My son will eat that stuff if I ask him to, but he would pick chips or cheetos first anytime.

  2. It's so great when you post pictures of Max enjoying veggies! My son will only eat vegetables if he is surrounded by peers eating them at the same time or if I puree and hide them in sauces and condiments.

  3. Max likes chips too...but they would come second to blueberries or bell peppers any day.

  4. Omg, this is so great. I had a hard time getting KHaled to eat stuff, but now its a whole new world.

He will eat his food for the sake of cucumbers! Yes the vegetable I had to put on dvd's to make him eat.

He likes bananas and pineapple...who would have though!?

He hates chocolate and candies and icecream. He would rather eat some nuts and raisins than eat potato chips...

We haven't reached Max's vege-glory yet though...leaves are still a no no for Khaled - he wont do lettuce and spinach.

I do consider myself lucky now with his eating habits...it just happened on its own.
